"I have been more outrageous and more alone and more courageous than the world has known. Passerby, my heart is like your own."

The Dog Bed

Super soft

dusk gray

velvet pillow

arched & rising

from the floor

thick foam

to rest a chin

or lay a head

reaching out

to cradle & comfort

old joints

tired bones–

empty again

Tears well up as I return here to re-read this beautiful poem, Mary. I know you love Muffy very much and Betsy and Scott. Thank you so much for sharing your profound warmth and open heart.

  2. Terri, Your kind words and sympathy warm my heart and help so much in the grieving. Thank you so much.

  3. Having had some recent losses myself, I understand. The sense of loss cam be overwhelming for me at times.
